Meeting of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Cambodia Vahram Kazhoyan with Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia Chem Widhya

Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Cambodia had a meeting with Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia on August 18, 2022.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the cooperation between Armenia and Cambodia in the areas of mutual interest, the further development and deepening of cooperation in the international organizations, holding of the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries in Phnom Penh, possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between the diplomatic academies, cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, holding of the months of national cuisine of the two countries in the respective capitals, visa liberalization and other issues, as well as exchanged ideas on regional developments.

Chem Widhya, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, briefly presented the priorities of the foreign policy of Cambodia with China, Vietnam, Russia, the US and the EU in bilateral, as well as in the multilateral platforms.

In his turn, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Cambodia Vahram Kazhoyan presented the main directions and priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia. Ambassador Kazhoyan, in the context of the exchange of ideas on regional developments, referred to the 44-days war unleashed by Azerbaijan in 2020 and the situation created thereafter, particularly the issues of the Armenian prisoners of war held by Azerbaijan and the destruction and falsification of the Armenian cultural heritage in the territories of Artsakh controlled by Azerbaijan, as well as other gross violations of human rights perpetrated by Azerbaijan.

The interlocutors also discussed the development of cooperation between Armenia and Cambodia in the trade and economic spheres, possibility of importing Armenian products and particularly Ararat cognacs to Cambodia.

During the meeting, the parties reached agreements to meet regularly, while maintaining constant electronic communication, in order to implement all the raised issues.

Mr. Hoy Pichravuth, Head of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, participated in the meeting.
